Can Plastics Hazardous Plastik Bisa Berbahaya

Inside there are a variety of plastic chemicals, such as monomer and plasticizer. Some are harmful to humans. Contacts between the plastic and packaged foods that can cause the displacement of plastic molecules into the food. This phenomenon is called migration.

There are several factors that influence migration, which is a type of food or beverages, length of exposure, and temperature. "Foods or beverages containing hot and most risky fat molecules trigger the displacement of plastic,"said Dr. Yadi Haryadi, food science and technology experts from the Institut Pertanian Bogor.

In addition, the longer the food or beverages packed in plastic, more plastic components will be moved. "While oil including material that quickly dissolves plastic components,"Hadi said in a seminar which I held in 2010 Healthy Children by Tupperware in Jakarta (07/14/2010).

In the event of migration, as well as migrating otherwise hazardous materials, and amounts exceeding the threshold, then it certainly can cause interference on health. "This is because we eat foods or beverages contaminated by chemicals in plastic,"he explained.

For that, use a plastic container that has a quality assurance and food safety and use according to the instructions for use of the container. Better to avoid packing food or beverages in temperatures over 60 degrees, and do not buy the hot liquid and greasy foods, like meatballs, packaged in plastic bags.

Di dalam plastik terdapat berbagai bahan kimia, seperti monomer dan plasticizer. Beberapa di antaranya berbahaya bagi manusia. Kontak antara plastik dan makanan yang dikemas bisa menyebabkan perpindahan molekul plastik ke dalam makanan. Fenomena itu disebut migrasi.

Ada beberapa faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap migrasi, yaitu jenis makanan atau minuman, lamanya kontak, dan suhu. "Makanan atau minuman panas dan mengandung lemak paling riskan memicu perpindahan molekul plastik," kata dr Yadi Haryadi, pakar ilmu dan teknologi pangan dari Institut Pertanian Bogor.

Selain itu, makin lama makanan atau minuman dikemas dalam plastik, makin banyak komponen plastik akan pindah. "Sedangkan minyak termasuk bahan yang cepat melarutkan komponen-komponen plastik," papar Hadi dalam acara seminar Aku Anak Sehat 2010 yang diadakan oleh Tupperware di Jakarta (14/7/2010).

Bila terjadi migrasi, serta bahan yang bermigrasi dinyatakan berbahaya dan jumlahnya melebihi ambang batas, maka hal itu tentu saja dapat menimbulkan gangguan pada kesehatan. "Ini karena kita mengonsumsi makanan atau minuman yang sudah tercemar bahan kimia plastik," urainya.

Untuk itu, gunakan wadah plastik yang memiliki jaminan mutu dan keamanan pangan serta gunakan sesuai instruksi penggunaan wadah. Lebih baik hindari mengemas makanan atau minuman dalam suhu lebih dari 60 derajat, serta jangan membeli makanan cair panas dan berminyak, seperti bakso, yang dikemas dalam kantong plastik.
